![]() ![]() The parts generally work, but they rarely work together. It's not that these 40 minutes are too extreme or overly dependent on too many ideas it's that Dragged into Sunlight haven't found out how to synthesize their best impulses and broad ambitions into a whole. These bursts renew Hatred for Mankind's promise of fresh invective.īut by and large, Widowmaker hoists Dragged into Sunlight with their own petard, turning that once-welcome eclecticism and adventurousness into the weapon that disrupts the payoff. And in Part Two, they dart around a serial killer's ramblings, spotlighting the unease as he talks about himself as a mass murderer. A skittering drum solo, for instance, lifts the whole band through a drone and into a phosphorescent surge during another relatively calm pass, the guitar’s tone and patience are enviable, the slowly rising riff setting a paradoxically grim but inviting scene. Despite Dragged into Sunlight's insistence on being identified as one unit, these moments offer some of the album’s most motivated and moving performances. Widowmaker isn't without its rewards: Toward the end of the three-part suite, the band repeatedly cycles through near-silence (a lugubrious field recording from the Czech Republic's Bone Church circles like a sinister breeze) and the record's most furious bursts. Widowmaker is named for, as the band told The Quietus, a heartache that "builds and builds and your heart is basically exploding." But the album itself is more akin to vertigo, with the stylistic disconnects and sudden switches making the record as a whole forgettable at best and vexing at worst. That's the net effect of Widowmaker, an album that finds Dragged into Sunlight working through strong parts of doom or thrash, noise or drone but never actually welding them into one. It's an interesting piece, but when it ends, Dragged into Sunlight flips a switch of convenience by plowing instantly into the howls and wallops of death metal. For the first 15 minutes, Dragged into Sunlight even does its best Godspeed, weaving a somber guitar around whispers of stately violin, down-the-abyss traces of noise, and recordings of serial killers talking about the rewards of their work. Late last year, talking to Decibel about the just-finished record, the band rolled through a list of Widowmaker touchstones- "It's doom- there are influences from Eyehategod, Grief- but then there's some thrashier elements, and there's a bit of High on Fire, Trap Them, even Om in there, too." Those components are all clearly identifiable here, from Part Three's down-tuned downturn to Part Two's sudden circle pit initiation. Both the process and ambition show as seams here, meaning that these 40 minutes sound like a cycle through influences and an unrealized aspiration to unite them under one release. Due to factors like other jobs, other bands, and the 300-mile geographical spread between the members, Dragged into Sunlight has been working on Widowmaker- a three-part, 40-minute suite intended as one piece of music- for three years. Every time someone pissed you off and you wanted to tear their jaw off, concealed, building and ready to burst at any moment." Who else would you rather rage with? "Imagine each micro-social interaction stuffed into one massive wrecking ball. "Our inspiration is very much a natural creation, spurred from months, if not years, of frustrated murderous intent," the band told Metallomusikum last year. Coupled, however, with Dragged into Sunlight's forthright willingness to not only tour but also discuss its intentions and influences and irritations with the world, they do create a strangely magnetic allure, conjuring the idea of a band allegiant to its name- a dark figure, reluctantly forced into public view to share its grim view of the world. Those conditions certainly aren't new for heavy metal, a genre replete with one-man bands, figure-obscuring robes, and pioneers who've still never performed in public. And when they play live, the musicians turn their backs on the audience, closing themselves to the house to again invoke wonder about just what they’re doing. Like bank robbers on a job or mercenaries on a mission, the British quartet appears uniformly in balaclavas the holes in the fabric are invitations of intrigue about the minds, lives and pasts of the four anonymous members. Considered on image alone, Dragged into Sunlight might be the most fascinating new recruit within extreme metal for the better part of the last decade. ![]() ![]() ![]() We provide you with a wide range of accurate predictions for several leagues you can rely on. Contrary to what you might expect, the Öhlins coil suspension doesn’t transform the COMMENCAL into a sofa. In size medium, it’s a super agile, direct and playful bike and rides very differently than the size large we had for our race bike group test. Though the META AM 29 prefers taking things easy on the climbs, its character flips as soon as you let gravity take over. Despite its heft, climbing is a relaxed affair thanks to the efficient chassis which hardly absorbs any of your pedalling input, together with the upright but compact riding position which ensures that the front wheel always stays planted. The riding position is central and upright, though you’ll quickly notice that you’ve got a lot of weight on your hands on flat terrain: this bike is clearly designed to ride up steep climbs and blast down even steeper descents. With the size medium, the ratio of reach to chainstay length is more balanced. The 433 mm chainstays are very short in relation to the ultra-long front centre on the size large. Due to its length, it is one of the first bikes where we had to downsize to a medium with a 470 mm reach. Its reach in size large is really long at 495 mm and the head tube angle is a slack 63.6°. The COMMENCAL META AM already looks very aggressive on paper. The geometry of the 2021 COMMENCAL META AM – Long, slack, short ![]() Case in point: the cheap-looking Ride Alpha cockpit. The bike falls short of these expectations. At € 5,299, the META AM 29 isn’t cheap and besides top performance, customers will rightly expect a corresponding look and feel. With heavier tires, the bike will quickly hit the 17 kg mark. Ultimately, this also adds to its weight. You can see the frame of the META AM 29 was built to last, especially in places like the brake mount. The suspension of the META AM is defined and firm. ![]() Anyone who thinks that the rear will be super plush with the coil shock is wrong. Examples include the tube shapes at the head tube, the weld seams and the cable routing. Overall, the frame’s finishing quality is a little rough around the edges. The dropper post on the size medium we tested offers 150 mm travel, whereas the size L comes with a 175 mm model, going all the way up to 200 mm on the XL – great! The dimensions of the Ride Alpha cockpit give no reason for complaint, but we’d have expected higher-end components at this price. It comes with a complete Shimano XT 12-speed drivetrain, DT Swiss wheels built with robust EX511 rims and a Kind Shock dropper post. If you want to own a META AM 29 ÖHLINS, you’ll have to fork out € 5,299. The COMMENCAL team rely on a direct-to-consumer sales model, sending their bikes directly to the customer. No wonder that it tops the scales at a whopping 16.20 kg with its Öhlins coil suspension and complete renunciation of carbon parts. The entire frame is burly, with big bearings, thick frame protectors and massive rocker links. COMMENCAL have done a beautiful job of attaching the shock to the top tube. It offers 170 mm travel up front, 160 mm at the rear and, as the name suggests, rolls on 29” wheels. COMMENCAL have been building exclusively aluminium frames for a long time and the latest META AM 29 is no exception. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Disse strips er lavet af naturlige ingredienser og er velegnede til alle hudtyper. strips, der er specielt designet til at fjerne uønsket hårvækst på en skånsom og effektiv måde. I can keep the big bottles in the fridge, I’m quite confident it won’t oxidise by the time we are done with it. But i get why they are using these bottles, and for this price it’s ok. So! I have nothing bad to say about this, other than the annoying dropper bottle. It didn’t leave a film, just kinda sinks in. I have been mixing it with the Hyaluronic acid serum, so it made it much more moisturising. Texture of it is very watery ofcourse, and has that vit c smell. Which I think is a great solution to avoid oxidisation. I bought those little dropper bottles they are selling with this, and kept the big bottle in the fridge, still in its packaging. But again We used it up in 2 months just fyi. It came clear, and until the end it was completely clear. I was looking for a vit C serum, to get rid of some of my sun spots, and even thought my sun spots are not completely gone, they definitely look less noticeable since I started using this. It definitely made my skin more uniform, and “bright”. I think it is still a bit early for me to come to a conclusion about the effectiveness, since my bf also used the same bottle, so I only been using it for around 2 months. I was kinda worried about it, because even on the website it says it can be irritating for sensitive skin. Previously I used a few Vit C Serums (Timesless, Clinique etc) but they all either had horrible texture, or made my cheeks red from irritation, or they were too expensive. This is the first Vit C serum that actually worked for me. I thought it was very annoying of them to do this, but tbh now that I used up all the serums, I’m not so mad about it. I wanted to give it a try, but I had to order all of Geek and Gorgeous serums (around 50 euros), in order to not pay the 15 euro shipping fee. Ok! Few months ago I was looking for a Vitamin C serum, and came across Geek and Gorgeous. Here are some of the posts and reviews I found: So I emailed the manufacturer and within an hour they emailed back and said the pH is approximately 2.4! Yay!! Keeping in mind that LAA has to be at a pH of 3.5 or less to be effective, I looked high and low to find the pH of the Timeless serum, but couldn't find it. So Timeless was a promising option since it met those criteria, and was waaaay cheaper than other LAA Vit C serums with E and Ferulic Acid. I also decided that I wanted it with Vitamin E and ferulic acid since there's research showing that Vitamin E and ferulic acid stabilize the LAA and double photoprotection, even though the OST Vitamin C comes with some very positive reviews on r/AB. I decided I wanted LAA (L-Ascorbic Acid). I've struggled to decide on a vitamin C since there are approximately a jillion different discussions/reviews on SCA and AB and the blogosphere about various Vitamin C's.
